Teachers should obtain sufficient training and education in yogic philosophy, anatomy, asanas, and pranayama. The number of yoga schools, and courses available, is staggering.
The extreme nature of many positions, and stretches, could cause serious injury in the hands of a lesser teacher. Perhaps you are uncomfortable, when you initially teach, and it changes your tone, or causes you to speak faster. Tension, anxiety, and worry, are a natural part of daily life, but Yoga allows us to decipher the real from the imaginary.
Students should understand that some forms of daily low level stress are unavoidable, and make them stronger because of the experience, but extreme stress can cause panic attacks, heart attacks, or premature death. Doing any type of yoga will also help you recover from fitness training. You want to consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise routine.
If you begin to feel more spiritual it's probably because you are more in tune with your body and life than you were before you started doing yoga. No number of yoga positioning tips can compete with having the right teacher.
